Here’s a great excerpt from the WCF book I’m reading:
When you add a service reference in Visual Studio 2010, it will also try to automatically edit the client’s config file and insert in it the required client section describing the service’s endpoints. However, in most cases Visual Studio 2010 is not smart enough to infer the cleanest binding values, and it will therefore butcher the config file by stating all the default values for the bindings, which effectively renders the file unreadable.
